ABOUT THE ARTIST: KRISTEN OLIVER

A Jacksonville native, Kristen Oliver (she/her) holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and is currently an actor, educator, fight & intimacy director, and musician based in Atlanta. Kristen pulls her techniques from her background in performance, stage combat, dance, and extensive training with IDC (Intimacy Directors & Coordinators) and TIE (Theatrical Intimacy Education) to create clear, safe, and compelling physical storytelling. Her work was recently featured in Romeo + Juliet at MNM Theatre in Ft. Lauderdale, where she served as both the intimacy director and assistant fight director. Jacksonville residents may have seen her choreography in this year's productions of Clyde’s at the 5 & Dime, or The Cake at Players by the Sea. In all that she does as an artist, Kristen strives to be brave through vulnerability and inspire others to do the same.

ABOUT HOMECOMINGS WITH THE 5 & DIME

Our theatre community is strong and vibrant because of the many thousands of theatre artists who have contributed so much of themselves to make Jacksonville an extraordinary city for the performing arts. Many of these artists continue to work here and many artists are now working in different communities, further highlighting Jacksonville as an important and shared part of artistic journeys.

In this series, artists with ties to Jacksonville who are working nationally as theatre professionals come home to join and lead our local artistic community in explorations of our craft.
