FAHRENHEIT 451
The Temperature at Which Book Paper Catches Fire and Burns
adapted by RAY BRADBURY from his classic novel
directed by CARYL BUTTERLEY
Government intrusion reaches new levels. Housebound citizens sit entranced, viewing controlled feeds on their flat-paneled living rooms walls. Immediate gratification drives consumption. Ignorance and entertainment are valued over knowledge and literacy. Haunting possibilities for 2011? This was Ray Bradbury’s haunting and prescient look into the future as presented in his novel and script for FAHRENHEIT 451. THE 5 & DIME, Jacksonville’s newest theatre company, in partnership with THE JACKSONVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY, presents this timely theatrical production, integrating multimedia and traditional stage presentation.

DICK KEREKES, eu Jacksonville, says:
The auditorium, with four hundred seats, was packed to capacity at 2:00pm and those that came saw a captivating version of this dynamic play… Director Caryl Butterley’s direction and casting were outstanding, with Steve Anderson Jr as Montag, a fireman, and Eugene Lindsey as Beatty, the fire chief, leading the way in scenes that crackled with intensity… Congratulations to The 5 & Dime… This looks like the start of something big!!!
SANTINO J. RIVERA, author of Amerikkkan Stories, founder of Broken Sword Publications, says:
Ray Bradbury’s book is genius and this production of his work was amazing. It is naked, bare bones theater that is elevated to another level due to superb acting, inventive production and great direction.
